Man City challenging PSG for AC Milan star

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola is ready to challenge PSG for AC Milan defensive midfielder Ismael Bennacer.

When news broke out that AC Milan were about to sign Ismael Bennacer, after having just signed his teammate Rade Krunic, many fans raised their concerns on the judgement behind this deal. A few days latter the 22-year-old defensive midfielder won the Africa Cup and was named the best player of the tournament.

After a slow start under Marco Giampaolo, Bennacer would explode with Stefano Pioli cementing himself as the best midfielder of AC Milan this season. His good performances have not gone unnoticed with many clubs keeping tabs on him.

Another personal intuition of Paolo Maldini, Bennacer was purchased for 16 million euros and his current market value is at around €30 million. A figure that a number of clubs are willing to spend with Manchester City now ready to challenge PSG to secure his services. 

PSG were the first club to move for Ismael Bennacer. Former AC Milan sporting director Leonardo had a contact with the agent of the Algerian midfielder in April. PSG are reportedly offering 30 million for Bennacer, a figure that could soon be matched by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

FootMercato reports that Benancer is a transfer target of City. The English giants are looking to improve their midfielder in the summer and the Algeria international is on Pep Guardiola’s list. Nevertheless, their two-year ban from Champions League could be a huge obstacle in their pursuit of the Algeria midfielder.
